Children’s Hospital Boston Hosts Live Webcast of Minimally Invasive Robotic Assisted Surgery to Correct Obstructed Kidney

On Thursday June 30th 2005, surgeons performed a pediatric robotic assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty which removes an obstruction from a kidney & reconnects the kidney's drainage system.

Pediatric Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty:
BOSTON, Massachusetts - Using minimally invasive robotic methods, surgeons are able to perform the complete reconstructive surgery laparoscopically with very high precision, eliminating the need for a large surgical incision.


Pediatric Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Pyeloplasty:
Craig Peters, MD, a urologic surgeon at Children’s Hospital Boston and associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School performed the surgery. Alan Retik, MD, Surgeon-in-chief and Urologist-in-chief at Children’s, moderated the event to explain critical portions of the surgery and answer e-mail questions from viewers during the live webcast.
